WHL:

The Prince George Cougars are in Everett to play the (19-12-1-1) Silvertips tonight (Wednesday) to start a string of three road games in four nights.

The two teams split a pair of games last month at CN Centre.

The (22-8) Cougars also visit the (20-9-3) Wenatchee Wild on Friday and the (11-17-2) Vancouver Giants on Saturday.

The Cougars are first and the Silvertips third in the Western Conference.

BCHL:

Linden Makow of the PG Spruce Kings is the BCHL 2nd star of the week after he notched a total of five points in two games (a win and a loss) against the Cranbrook Bucks.

The (8-14-3) Prince George Spruce Kings host the (10-10-6) Trail Smoke Eaters on Friday night at 7:00 and Saturday night at 6:00.

Less than 50 tickets are remaining for the Friday game which is Drop the Gloves and Sock it to Em night.

The Spruce Kings are last in the 8-team Interior Division, five points behind the 7th place (10-13-3-1) Merritt Centennials, six back of the (12-14-1) Cranbrook Bucks and seven behind Trail.

NHL: (10 Tuesday games with Montreal the only Canadian team idle)

Brock Boeser scored a hat trick while captain Quinn Hughes had three assists for the (19-9-1) Canucks who will conclude a 5-game homestand Thursday against the (17-9-2) Florida Panthers.

Boeser has 21 goals on the season to tie him with Auston Matthews of Toronto for the league lead.

The (13-12-1) Oilers extended their winning streak to 8 games.

The (13-14-1) St. Louis Blues fired coach Craig Berube after Tuesday’s 6-4 loss to the Detroit Red Wings.

The 57-year-old Berube guided St. Louis to its first Stanley Cup championship in 2019.

Drew Bannister, coach of the Springfield Thunderbirds, has been named the Blues interim coach.

BC Elite Hockey League:

The (16-3-1) U18 Cariboo Cougars visit the (11-7-1-1) Valley West Giants on Saturday at 4:45 PM in Delta and Sunday at 11:15 AM in Langley in their final two league games in 2023.

The U18 Cougars are in first place in the 9-team BC Elite Hockey League, a point ahead of the (15-3-0-2) Vancouver North East Chiefs.

NBA:

The (9-14) Toronto Raptors host the (9-13) Atlanta Hawks tonight and Friday (4:30).

Week 15 of the NFL season starts Thursday night (5:15 kickoff) with the LA Chargers at Las Vegas.

Both teams are 5-8.

The Chargers have placed franchise quarterback Justin Herbert on injured reserve, officially ending his 2023 season.
