Trio of holiday mailing deadlines set for this week: Canada Post

Time is running out for Prince George residents who wish to send any parcels or mail in time for Christmas.

Today (Monday) is the deadline if you wish to send something out to another part of the country according to Canada Post.

Local CUPW President, Rick Harris told MyPGNow.com their delivery agents and mail carriers have been run off their feet.

“We’ve had a pretty good season. The last holiday season was a little slower than I think everybody anticipated but this season we are back in business as mail volumes are up – extra trailers are coming in from Vancouver. Our letter carriers and delivery agents have a lot of presents to deliver this year.”

“At this time of year, our busy couple of months starts in November and runs into January and the volume increases right across the board. That includes letter mail, flats and parcels – it is all up.”

Harris added that 20 Christmas casuals were hired by Canada Post in PG to deal with the holiday rush.

In addition, tomorrow (Tuesday) is the deadline to guarantee mail before Christmas for regular letters and parcels for local and provincial deliveries.

However, there is a bit more time for priority shipping with Wednesday (Dec 20th) being the deadline.

Canada Post is reminding residents to clear away any snow or ice and to provide a clear pathway for mail carriers to deliver their packages.
