PG’s above seasonal weather pattern to stick around until Sunday: Environment Canada

The spring-like temperatures Prince George has enjoyed for most of the winter will stick around until the end of the week.

Daytime highs are expected to reach five or six degrees between tomorrow (Thursday) and Saturday.

However, Environment Canada Meteorologist, Louis Kohanyi told MyPGNow.com even though Thursday’s high is slated for plus six, it won’t shatter any temperature records.

“It’s going to be warm but we are not expecting any temperature records. Tomorrow, the record is 7.8 degrees and that was set in 1919.”

“It will be warm but we are not expecting record-breaking temperatures for Prince George.”

The three-day stretch will make conditions ten degrees above seasonal for this time of year. The normal high is around minus five while the overnight low is -13.

Today’s (Wednesday) high is slated for plus two with a mix of sun and cloud.

Kohanyi expects temperatures to cool off considerably starting New Year’s Day.

“It is going to cool down on Monday of next week as we have a high of minus five, which is going to be close to normal for the period and Tuesday next week we have a low of minus nine and a high of minus eight. It is going to be warmer temperatures until about Saturday before it cools down on Sunday.”
