Expect a busy weekend in the CN Centre.
The Prince George Cougars are hosting Indigenous Night on Saturday when they face off against the Portland Winterhawks.
The night will have special Indigenous jerseys, performances, and vendors.
“As the Cougars, we work, we play in Lheidli T’enneh territory. We respect that and honour that,” Taylor Dakers, the Cougars’ Director of Business, told My PG Now. “As people in our building enjoying hockey and being entertained, we want to celebrate those people as individuals and the background they come from.”

“It is important for us to do this, and take a lot of pride in doing this,” he said.
Dakers said under 700 tickets are left for sale for Saturday’s game, and a sellout is not unlikely.
On the hockey side of things, fans should not leave the CN Centre disappointed.
Heading into the weekend doubleheader, the Cougars sit in first place in the Western Conference with a 29-12-0-1 record.
Portland is second, 27-10-2-1, two points behind the Cougars for first with two games in hand.
Prince George and Portland already played once this month south of the border, Portland won that one 4-3 thanks to a last minute game winning goal.

This weekend will be the final time these teams see each other in the regular season. Prince George beat Portland 4-0 back on December 3rd.
“The teams are so well matched,” Dakers said. “Two great teams, top of the conference… I’m not going to get ahead of myself, but definitely a possible playoff matchup down the road.”
The weekend kicks off tonight (Friday), the Cougars and Winterhawks play at 7:00 in the CN Centre.
