One person suffers non-life-threatening injuries following another shooting in Moccasin Flats

The Prince George RCMP are investigating another shooting in Moccasin Flats.

Just before 11:00 a.m. this morning (Monday), officers received a report of a man with a gunshot wound on the 500-block of Fourth Avenue.

Police officers immediately attend the area and determined the shooting had taken place inside the homeless encampment.

“Police are aware that the levels of violence in and around the encampment have increased in recent weeks and we are taking steps to address this issue. We have an increased police presence in the area, including proactive patrols through the encampment, to help ensure the safety of those who live and work nearby,” stated Cpl. Jennifer Cooper.

The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are asking that those who were in the area and may have witnessed the incident or who have information that can assist this investigation, to please contact the Prince George RCMP nonemergency line to speak with an investigator.

This is the second shooting investigation for Moccasin Flats in just over two weeks. On January 5th, police attended the 500 block of Ottawa Street where they discovered a man suffering from a serious gunshot wound. No charges have been laid and that file remains open.
