More feedback will be collected for the Official Community Plan review in Prince George.
The City of Prince George has added two more pop-up events including a collaboration with UNBC’s School of Planning and Sustainability to host a pop-up on campus on February 5th.
In addition, another session is planned at the Golden Age Social event in collaboration with the Prince George Council of Seniors on February 12th.
The event details are:
- February 5 – UNBC – Doug Little Lounge (9am – 4:30pm)
- February 12 – Prince George Conference & Civic Centre (Golden Age Social from 1:30pm – 4pm)
The sessions allow residents to learn more about the review process, plus get involved by highlighting different areas of Prince George that are important to them for preservation or improvement.
An OCP communicates a community’s vision, goals, and objectives and outlines long-term development plans. It also guides planning and land use management. The City’s existing OCP was adopted in 2011.
“This is an opportunity for all UNBC students to share their ideas about what makes Prince George special and to shape future priorities, especially for youth,” says UNBC School of Planning and Sustainability Chair Dr. Tara Clapp.
“It is also a chance for students in the School of Planning and Sustainability to gain insight into the consultation process for the OCP and apply their knowledge to help build a healthy, equitable, and thriving community.”
The new OCP will guide growth and development through 2050. The review process started in September of 2023 with community sessions and an online survey.
