Masich stadium receives $250,000 grant funding from local organization

Masich Place stadium is receiving some funding for upgrades.

On top of funding from the City, Northern Development Initiatives Trust will be granting $250,000 towards new turf, jump and throw areas and a perimeter path.

NDIT’s Joel McKay says these items will enable the stadium to host more large scale events:

“So having those facilities, it keeps people in the community, it attracts people to our community and through those events and tournaments it also does generate economic dividends for our businesses locally here.”

Mackeye says upgrades like these will also attract sport tourism, mentioning the Canada Winter Games as a prime example.
