The Prince George Cougars will be doing their best to stick it to cancer later this month.
Today (Monday), the WHL club announced its upcoming “Cougars Fight Cancer” game, slated for Monday, February 19th, at 3:00 pm against the Seattle Thunderbirds, presented by PRD Construction.
The special event will feature a Mega 50/50 Jackpot guaranteed by Wood Wheaton Supercenter, with a starting amount of $60,000, all in support of the BC Cancer Foundation.
Additionally, the Cougars will wear special jerseys, which will be auctioned off, which will also support the Cancer Foundation.
Paul Danbrook of PRD Construction expressed heartfelt sentiments regarding the initiative.
“Cancer has deeply touched the lives of our close friends and relatives. Sponsoring this event serves as a powerful platform to raise awareness about cancer and, hopefully, contribute
to the discovery of cures, enhanced treatments, and a deeper understanding of this disease.”
“In sponsoring tickets, we aim to demonstrate our unwavering support,” remarked Danbrook.
“It’s about standing with our friends, relatives, and community members in their courageous battle against this formidable foe. While our efforts may not directly cure cancer, they offer
solace and a sense of community to those in the fight or who have traversed its challenges. We’re here to affirm that our community stands in solidarity with them.”
PG native and Anaheim Ducks prospect Nico Myatovic is a member of the Thunderbirds. The 19-year-old has 15 points in 14 games after returning from injury. He was a apart of last year’s team that made it to the Memorial Cup, dropping the final game to the Quebec Remparts.
