Spruce Kings complete trio of transactions at BCHL trade deadline

Still mired in the BCHL’s Interior Conference basement, Prince George Spruce Kings general manager Mike Hawes decided to shuffle the deck at the league trade deadline on Saturday.

A trio of moves were made including the acquisitions of forwards Aidan Carolan and Vital Danis for the Central Canadian Hockey League.

Carolan is joining the Spruce Kings after beginning the year with the Brockville Braves.

In 37 games, the 18-year-old centre has recorded 14 goals and 16 assists.

“Aidan is a hard-working player whose attention to detail is excellent. He’s a player who will contribute in all areas of the game for us,” said Hawes.

“He has a good nose for the net but also understands the defensive side of the game. We’re excited to add him to our group.”

Dinis, however, comes via the Pembroke Lumber Kings of the CCHL.

In 35 games, the Ottawa, Ontario product recorded 31 points.

“Vital is a young player with a lot of size and skill,” said Hawes.

“He thinks the game very well and is a tremendous addition to our group. We’re thrilled that this opportunity presented itself.”

In a corresponding move, defenseman Tristan Taylor (’04) has been moved to the Lone Star Brahmas of the North American Hockey League.

The Spruce Kings (13-23-3-0) are in Vancouver Island for a trio of road games against the Victoria Grizzlies (Friday at 7pm), Cowichan Valley Capitals (Saturday at 6pm) and the Alberni Valley Bulldogs (Monday at 2pm).

PG is back home February 23rd and 24th hosting a double-header against the Vernon Vipers.
