Annual Women’s Memorial March being held in PG Wednesday

A large crowd is expecting to be seen marching through downtown Prince George tomorrow afternoon (Wednesday).

The annual Women’s Memorial March will take place from 12:00 – 3:00, honouring missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls.

The march starts at the Native Friendship Centre and will carry on to the Courthouse, where there will be snacks, beverages, speakers, and drumming.

The march started in Vancouver in 1992 as a day to “grieve, to remember, and to highlight the traumatic and wide-ranging impacts of violence against Indigenous women and girls – on their families, loved ones and communities,” according to event organizers.

People participating in the march are being asked to wear red.
