Snowfall warnings issued for Pine Pass and Yellowhead Highways

Environment Canada has issued snowfall warnings for a pair of highways in the Central Interior.

The affected highways are the Pine Pass and the Yellowhead Highway to the Alberta Border.

According to Environment Canada Meteorologist Nan Lu, 10 to 15 centimetres of snow are expected today.

“Currently we do have a frontal system that is bringing snow to the two highways,” she explained.

“But for the Prince George region, we’re just expecting periods of snow, and that snowfall amount is anywhere from two up to five centimetres from today to tonight.”

Temperatures are also expected to drop to a low of minus 15 tonight.

“In the wake of the cold front, we do have very cold arctic air pulling down across the Central Interior region,” Lu said.

Temperatures are expected to plummet to the mid-minus-20s tomorrow night.
