“The key word is optimistic” 2024 off to strong start for building in PG

The City of Prince George got off to a good start this year when it comes to building permit values.

The City issued a total of 28 building permits in January worth a combined total of $12.6 million.

“This is a great start to 2024 and hopefully we’ll be able to continue this momentum in the upward trend for the year,” said Director of Planning and Development Deanna Wasnik.

“With all the marco-economic indicators we’re hearing out of the states trending towards this so-called soft landing in 24, to see this as evidence of where we are already in Prince George is promising,” said Councillor Garth Frizzell.

“I’m going to stay cautiously optimistic, but the key word is optimistic.”

2023 was a down year for building permit values in the Northern Capital, following a record year in 2022.
