ICBC cautioning drivers ahead of long weekend

The four-day Easter Weekend is just around the corner, and ICBC is warning drivers to be careful if they are hitting the road on holiday.

ICBC says across the province the average Easter Weekend sees 2,176 crashes, in which 578 people are injured and one is killed.

Of those, 124 crashes and 18 injuries occur on average in the North Central region.

ICBC is advising drivers to plan ahead, get enough rest, check their vehicle’s fluids and levels before leaving on a road trip, and stay attentive while on the road.

They warn the early spring roads can still be unpredictable and are not entirely free of snow and ice, and that more people than normal may be traveling this year because Easter aligns with many school districts’ spring breaks.

This includes checking Drive BC before departing.
