Fundraising for Vanderhoof Aquatic Centre nearly halfway

Vanderhoof Aquatic Center fundraising has cooled off during the Summer months.

Fundraising Chair Zoe Dhillon says with people out of town and the recent floods, efforts to fundraise have taken a back seat.

However, she says their next fundraiser should see things pick up once again:

“Our next fundraiser we are looking at is a comedy night at the end of October. Past fundraisers have been very well received, we had a big fundraiser in March that we raised about $17,000 with a silent auction and a dinner.”

Dhillon says they are making great progress, as they’ve raised a little less than half, about $230,000 – of their fundraising goal of $500,000.

Final engineering designs are expected to be completed soon, with a goal of construction set for 2017.
