Lotto Max ticket purchased in Prince George wins over $96,000

The lotto winnings keep on coming for Prince George and the North.

A ticket purchased in Prince George for Tuesday’s Lotto Max draw matched six of seven numbers, plus the bonus to win $96,144.90.

A ticket purchased in Ontario also matched six of seven number plus the bonus to split the prize.

The winning numbers were 11, 23, 36, 38, 42, 43, and 49, with 27 as the bonus.

Through the first few months of the year, it’s been a good year for Prince George and the Cariboo when it comes to lotto winnings.

A ticket purchased in Prince George for the March 19th Lotto 6/49 draw was one of four across Canada to match five of six numbers plus the bonus, netting a $56,000 win.

In addition, Annabelle and Arden Ross claimed $230,000 during the March 9th Lotto 6/49 draw.

Shawna and Jason Eberle of Prince George won a $500,000 extra prize on the February 15th Daily Grand Draw.

In addition, Williams Lake is home to two big winners.

John Bennetts, the owner of The Neighborhood Ice Cream Shop won $274,000 after claiming the February 16th Lotto Max draw.

A month later, a ticket purchased in Williams Lake won a $500,000 Extra Prize on the March 15th Lotto Max draw.

Grizzly bear attack west of Fort Nelson leaves one with non-life-threatening injuries

The BC Conservation Officer Service says a grizzly bear attack near Fort Nelson left one man with non-life-threatening injuries.  According to a Facebook post from the Conservation Officer Service, the attack took place at 11:00 this morning near a remote, fly-in location approximately 110 kilometres west of Fort Nelson, where a group was working in the area.

Surprise visit brings big smiles to boy battling cancer in Quesnel

A young man battling eye cancer received a surprise visit over the Canada Day long weekend by a car club and motorcycle club in Quesnel. Over 50 vehicles from the Prospector’s Car Club and the Dangerous Curves Motorbike Club drove by and filled the dead-end roads near Kellen Harper-Frederiko’s house, with well wishes, toys to give to Kellen, and chances for him to sit in and on cars and bikes.

Some Northern Interior Health Unit services moving next year

Northern Health's Northern Interior Health Unit (NIHU) will be making a move in spring 2026.  According to Northern Health, the current NIHU building will be deconstructed after the move to make space for the tower.
