Spruce Kings shut out in game 1 of playoffs

The Prince George Spruce Kings are down 1-0 in their first-round playoff series against the Penticton Vees.

They were shut out by the first-place Penticton Vees on the opening night of the BCHL playoffs, 3-0, in front of 2711 Vees fans.

Penticton’s Anselmo Rego scored the game-winner in the first period, and Francesco Dell’Elce and Zack Stringer added to the score in the second.

The Vees outshot the Spruce Kings 27-20.

PG was 0/3 on the powerplay and 1/1 on the penalty kill.

Game 2 will be played tonight in Penticton and games 3 and 4 will be played in Prince George on Tuesday and Wednesday.
