Mounties looking for dash cam footage of pedestrian-involved hit-and-run

The Prince George RCMP is appealing to the public for witnesses to a pedestrian-involved hit-and-run from a week ago. (April 4th)

Witnesses reported a mother and her two children in a stroller were using the marked crosswalk at Fifth Avenue and Carney Street at around 2:15 that afternoon.

Mounties say they were crossing from the corner closest to the gas station when a red, lifted truck believed to be a Dodge pickup, that was in the northbound turning lane of Carney Street, collided with the stroller during its turn to proceed west bound on Fifth Avenue.

“Thankfully no one was injured in this incident,” said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper.

“However, police officers would still like to speak with the driver of the vehicle as they failed to remain at the scene of accident. Investigators are asking that anyone who was in the area and has a dash camera please check their footage for the time in question in the chance they caught footage of the truck.”

The RCMP is also reminding drivers that pedestrians maintain the right of way, even on a green light for vehicle traffic.
