PG golf courses relishing early start to the season

Prince George golfers are hitting the links a little bit earlier this year thanks to a mild winter.

The PG Golf and Curling Club is celebrating its 75th Anniversary season starting tomorrow (Friday), two weeks ahead of schedule for this time of year.

General Manager, David Wilson is looking forward to the spring and summer months.

“It’s going to be a very good season as the course wintered very well so we are excited to get it going, especially this early.”

Wilson added they have no shortage of tournaments including the Simon Fraser Open in September and the PG Cougars Charity Golf Tournament in July among others.

“We also have an iron-man tournament, which is in partnership with Aberdeen Glen so that is a nice two-day event where we bring competitors from both clubs together to compete and generate more business for both clubs.”

“Being here 75 years we have established ourselves in Prince George and we want to continue to grow with the community as well as with our junior golfers. They are the success of our future,” added Wilson.

Pine Valley and Aspen Grove, out in Pineview opened for the season during the Easter long weekend while Alder Hills will begin play tomorrow (Friday).

Aberdeen Glen is set to open its front nine on Tuesday.
