PG community cleanup coming up this weekend

Thousands of active citizens will be getting outside and cleaning up their neighbourhoods this weekend.

The City of Prince George is holding its annual spring clean on Sunday (April 21).

Doug Hofstede, a Community Coordinator with the City of Prince George, said “nearly 4,000 people” are registered to get outside and take part on Sunday.

Anyone interested in taking part can register on the City’s website, or they can simply get outside in their community and further the effort.

“After winter, [garbage] gets along roadways and in our parks and green spaces,” Hofstede said, “If people are out and driving around on Sunday, please slow down and be aware volunteers are cleaning on the roadways.”

Six garbage bins will be placed around the city for the cleaners to drop their found litter in – the city is asking the bins are only used by people embarking on the cleanup, otherwise they may fill up too fast.

Hofstede added anyone who has garbage from the clean and can’t make it to one of the bins can call the city and have a truck come pick it up from them.

You can register, find an event map, and learn more here.
