Regional District approves $500,000 loan to Exploration Place

The Regional District of Fraser Fort George has granted The Exploration Place’s request for a half-a-million-dollar loan.

The loan was approved by the District’s Board of Directors, it is to be repaid over five years at a 4% interest rate.

MyPGNow spoke with the District’s Manager of External Relations, Renee McCloskey, about the potential loan earlier today. You can find that interview here.

It was not the most money moved at the meeting, $2.7 million has been given to UHNBC “to contribute towards capital projects and
equipment.”

• $276,400 for a server replacement
• $273,97 for a preheat water storage system
• $2,164,000 for a sterile compounding room
The amounts approved represent 40% of the total costs.

The board also discussed a change in recycling collection services.

The contractor that currently provides the service will not continue past the end of May – the board has approved an agreement with Recycle BC to create collection depots at the Mackenzie, Quinn
Street and Valemount transfer stations, with more information coming in the near future.

Prince George residents will not be impacted by this recycling change.

They also approved several community grants:

$750 the Nukko Lake Recreation Commission for Santa’s Breakfast

• $636 to the Bednesti Berman Community Association for an AED battery
