44th annual Home and Garden show “ran like a hot knife through butter”

The Northern BC Home and Garden Show was held for the 44th time last weekend.

Canadian Home Builders Association of Northern BC Executive Director Terri McConnachie said it was “a phenomenal show.”

“It ran like a hot knife through butter,” she said. “We had all the right people in all the right places, all I saw was crowds enjoying themselves… the opportunity to connect with our community is something we hold very dear.”

While a final attendance number has not been calculated, McConnachie said they did see a slight decline in people year-over-year.

“Last year was the first show after three years of cancelations,” she explained. “We were steady with the pre-covid [attendance] numbers.”

Thousands still made their way to the show over the weekend.

No rest for the Home Builders Association, McConnachie said the planning for next year’s event is already underway.

“There are all kinds of ideas floating around,” she said – using the return of an on-site building competition as an example.

The Home Builders Association is a non-profit, McConnachie thanked all the “small army” of volunteers and vendors who helped the event to run once again.
