Charges laid against two men in Williams Lake homicide

Two men have been charged in connection to a homicide in Williams Lake.

Back on May 5th, 2022, at around 11:00 pm, RCMP attended a call out where 19-year-old, Richard Todd was found critically injured and died in hospital from his injuries.

North District Major Crime Unit took conduct of the investigation and worked tirelessly with Williams Lake RCMP and B.C. Coroners Service on the investigation.

Police said on May 3rd, 2024, 26-year-old Michael Bauer was arrested in Williams Lake, and 25-year-old Garrett Shirey was arrested in Houston, BC, and were charged with manslaughter in the death of Todd.

Both Bauer and Shirey remain in custody and will be appearing virtually in Williams Lake Court on Monday, May 6th, 2024.

Corporal Brett Urano said “This was a thorough investigation spanning over two years and it shows our investigators’ determination to seek out the truth,”
