BC Wildfire Service crews wetlining perimeter on Crescent Spur Wildfire

The Crescent Spur Wildfire, approximately 42 kilometres northwest of McBride, remains at 220 hectares.

According to Fire Information Officer Adam Nicholas, the fire is burning with rank one activity, which means it’s a smoldering ground fire with no open flame, and a slow creeping rate of fire spread.

“It hasn’t grown since yesterday, and the objectives for today are to wetline the perimeter 30 metres inward,” Nicholas said.

“We’re using heavy equipment to strengthen the containment lines and continue to mop up and patrolling the southeastern corner.”

There are two initial attack and two unit crews actioning the fire, in addition to five helicopters and four pieces of heavy equipment.

Structure protection is also responding.

An evacuation alert remains in place in the area.
