State of the North report goes digital

The Northern Development Initiative Trust (NDIT) has launched a new digital dashboard to replace its annual State of the North Reports.

After releasing the printed report annually from 2017 – 2021, NDIT says they realized “that up-to-date, readily available data about Northern B.C.’s economy was hard to come by.”

“The launch of the new, digital State of the North is very exciting for Northern Development. We have heard from many community and business partners that the original State of the North Report was a publication they appreciated and referred to often.” Joel McKey, CEO of NDIT, said in a news release.

“The new digital version, with up-to-date information that allows for year-over-year comparison offers a one stop platform with all of the data at your fingertips.”

The economic dashboard is online now, and includes statistics dating back to that first 2017 report on a variety of topics, like housing, population, and key industry sectors.

NDIT hopes to update the dashboard quarterly.

The organization’s board has also nominated Margo Wagner to serve as their chair again. She has been in the role since 2019.

You can find the dashboard here.
