Cougars Lamb named finalist for CHL Coach of the Year

Mark Lamb is up for another coaching honour.

He is in the running for the Brian Kilrea Coach of the Year Award. Lamb is up against Derek Laxdal of the Oshawa Generals and Jean Francois Gregoire of the Baie Comeau Drakkar.

Lamb was named the WHL’s Coach and Executive of the Year earlier this month after guiding the PG Cougars to a 49-15-1-3 campaign, marking the franchise’s best season since moving to Prince George ahead of the 1994-95 season.

The Cougars closed out the regular season as the second-highest scoring team in the league, netting 316 goals, while allowing the second-fewest goals against (187).

PG also ranked second in powerplay efficiency (30.1 percent) and penalty kill (84.3 percent).

Lamb also led the Cougars to a WHL-best 24-8-0-2 road record.

The winner will be recognized at the 2024 CHL Awards on Saturday, June 1st during the Memorial Cup in Saginaw, Michigan.
