Theatre NorthWest’s final stage reading and production of the season is coming up on Friday (May 31).
The play is called Fair and Square. It is about two couples who buy a house together intending to flip it for profit.
“The two women are best friends from University, and the two men really don’t like each other,” Bradley Charles, the play’s director, told My PG Now.
He said the show has more physical comedy than a stage reading – where the actors have their scripts on stage and the set and props are a minimum – normally would.
“There are lots of relatable relationship struggles that we can see ourselves in… nothing is funnier than the truth, and it is true relationships that we see in this show,” Charles said.
Kat Fullerton, who plays Penny in the show, said Friday’s audience can expect “a lot of laughs and a lot of relatable issues.”
She said Charles first approached her about the role at the end of a different stage reading where she told him about her “flawless, spot-on British accent.”
“What is awesome about a stage reading, we can get a group of actors together and do this quickly,” Charles added. “We get to perform in front of an audience, it is a big payoff for less of the grinding work. The audience gets to see about 80%, the story and acting is great, but there is no set and full production.”
The stage reading takes place on Friday night at 7:00. You can find out more here.
