There’s something for everyone in Prince George this weekend

It will be another busy weekend for the City of Prince George.

Some activities that will be going on in the city this weekend include:

Theatre NorthWest’s last stage reading and production of the season.

The play showcased at the stage reading is called Fair and Square. It is about two couples who buy a house together intending to flip it for profit.

The stage reading takes place tonight (Friday) at 7:00.

UNBC Grads will walk the stage.

UNBC’s graduating class of 2024 will have their big day today as 800 graduates walk the stage in two ceremonies.

Carey Price, Alex Cuba, and Jim Good are receiving Honorary Doctor of Laws degrees during the ceremonies.

Spruce City Wildlife Association’s annual salmon release.

Over 1,000 salmon fry will be released into the Nechako River by hundreds of community members.

There will also be face painting and other kids’ activities, other outdoor community groups setting up booths, a chance to learn about the impact salmon have on the ecosystem and environment, and free hot dogs.

The fry release will run from noon until 3:00 on Saturday at the Spruce City Wildlife Association’s headquarters at 1384 River Road.

Free Concert in Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park.

Three local bands (Good Juju, Rabbit Soup, The Cottonwood Kids) and three food trucks (Baller Foods, Afro Caribbean, Chaa Tayo Bubble Tea and Wings) are welcoming people to the park for a free show on Saturday.

The event starts at 5:30.

Nine day Community Moves Festival starts.

Hosted by the Method Dance Society, the festival will start with free workshops from June 1st to 5th, ranging from dance, yoga and professional development.

On June 7th and 8th, the festival will take the stage at the Knox Performance Centre for the mainstage showcase.

The Prince George Kidney Walk.

The Prince George 2.5 km Kidney Walk will take place Sunday morning at 11 with registration an hour earlier at Masich Place Stadium.

BC Trails Day.

The province-wide occasion aims to highlight the importance of our green spaces and trail systems.

WALK PG, the Wild About Lheidli Keyoh Prince George Outdoor Festival, is being held at Cottonwood Park on Saturday to mark the occasion.

Participants can learn about Lheidli T’enneh cultures and tradition and participate in a range of other activities between 10:00 and 3:00.
