A pair of Prince George Cougars are looking to leave an impression with Hockey Canada later this summer.
High-scoring forward Riley Heidt and star netminder Josh Ravensbergen have been invited to the World Junior Summer Showcase tournament set for July 30th to August 3rd set for Windsor, Ontario and Plymouth, Michigan.
They are among 42 players selected for the tournament.
Like many of the Cougars, Heidt tore up the WHL last season notching 37 goals and 80 assists in 66 games. During the playoffs, the signed Minnesota Wild prospect added 19 points in 15 playoff games.
Ravensbergen, was spectacular inside the PG crease, tying the league record for shutouts in a regular season by a rookie goaltender with six.
The North Vancouver product recorded an eye-popping 26-4-1 record to go along with a 2.46 goals against average and .907 save percentage.
In addition, Ravensbergen had a stellar playoff for PG going 9-2-1 with a 1.98 GAA and .931 save percentage.
Ravensbergen is eligible for the 2025 NHL Draft.
McBride’s Tanner Molendyk of the Saskatoon Blades and Chetwynd’s Cayden Lindstrom of the Medicine Hat Tigers were also named to the team.
Molendyk is a signed top-prospect of the Nashville Predators while Lindstrom was selected 4th overall by the Columbus Blue Jackets in last month’s 2024 NHL Draft in Las Vegas, Nevada.
In addition, PG’s Cameron Schmidt was named to Canada’s U-18 national team selection camp roster for the Hlinka Gretzky Cup to be held in Edmonton August 5th to 10th.

The camp goes July 27th to 30th in Calgary with the top players to be picked to play in the Hlinka Gretzky Cup.
In his rookie season with the Vancouver Giants, Schmidt posted 58 points including 31 goals.
Meanwhile, P.G. Cougars defenseman Carson Carels has been invited to Canada’s National Under-17 Development Camp July 18th to 24th in Oakville, Ont.
