Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako issues evacuation orders, alerts around a pair of wildfires

The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako has issued an evacuation order near the Laidman Lake Wildfire.

The areas under evacuation order include all lands, properties and dwellings in the vicinity of Laidman and Williamson Lakes, specifically those located west of Kluskus Forest Service Road, north of Moose Lake Road, and South of Malaput Forest Service Road. (See above map)

The wildfire is approximately 100 km south of Fraser Lake.

According to the BC Wildfire Service, the wildfire was started by a dry lightning strike, and, as of yesterday (Saturday), is around 51 hectares in size.

In addition, the Regional District and Nak’azdli Whut’en have issued an Evacuation Alert for properties in the vicinity of Marie and Nanna Lakes.

According to the BC Wildfire Service, the wildfire, around 18 kilometres southwest of Fort St. James, is roughly 200 hectares in size, and was caused by lightning.
