Several Quesnel cowboys will go into Championship Sunday in the driver’s seat at the annual Quesnel Rodeo at Alex Fraser Park.
Denton Spiers is the only one to cover a bull through Friday night and Saturday afternoon with an 80 on “Puddin.”
Unless someone beats 80 tomorrow he wins, and if he rides again he is the 2024 Bull Riding Champion.
Denton, by the way, shared the title last year.
He is also 2nd, along with his partner Lane Cork, in the #8 Team Roping.
Former Canadian Tie-Down Roping champion Steve Loyd, from Quesnel, has the best time in that event through two days, 11.6 seconds on Saturday afternoon.
He and Kyle Bell from Houston are also second in the Open Team Roping.
B.J. and Riley Isnardy from Cache Creek lead with a 5 and 4.
Dustin Nicholson, also from Quesnel, is tied for the lead in the Steer Wrestling stopping the clock in 5-flat.
Other Cariboo leaders after performance number two of three include Tanner Loring from Riske Creek in the Junior Steer Riding, and Ellie Hill from Williams Lake in the Pee Wee Barrel Racing.
Performance number three goes Sunday afternoon at 1 o’clock.
