Weekend weather: the last hot day of summer?

Get outside this afternoon, this could be the final warm day of the summer.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Lisa Coldwells says the mercury will reach 26 degrees Friday afternoon.

“Not quite a record, the record is 28.9 set back in 1944, but 26 is going to be close. It’s going to seem like a day in mid summer.”

She says a weak front will bring wind and scattered showers Saturday afternoon after a “lovely morning”

Coldwells says the cooling trend will continue into Sunday.

“The beginning of next week is looking quite cool and unsettled. Daytime highs are probably only going to reach about 12-14 degrees.”

She says so far, this September has been a few degrees cooler than seasonal average for this time of the year (18 degrees).
