Residents in Wells get the green light to return home.

Wells residents can now go home.

The District of Wells has rescinded the evacuation order that has been in place since Sunday.

A State of local emergency has also been rescinded.

An evacuation alert will remain in place.

The Cariboo Regional District meanwhile, has not yet lifted its evacuation orders for Barkerville and the Bowron Lake area.

There hasn’t been a lot of growth on the wildfires burning in the Cariboo over the past couple of days, including the Antler Creek wildfire.

It is still listed at 14,283 hectares.

Paula Wallbauer, a Fire Information Officer with the Level 1 Incident Team now in charge of that fire, says it is about two kilometres away from Barkerville and three kilometres away from Wells, but that there is no imminent danger to either community at this time.
