World Men’s Fastpitch Championship (in Surrey)
The Prince George River Kings lost 10-3 to the Omma Tigers in their first game at the 2024 International Softball Congress World Men’s Fastpitch Championship at Softball City in Surrey.
On Monday, the River Kings rebounded to an 8-5 afternoon win against the Can-West Thunder.
In the evening, PG fell 6-0 to Circle Tap Dukes.
The Vanderhoof Rippers won their opener by default and lost their second game on Sunday 13-1 against the Circle Tap Dukes of Denmark, Wisconsin.
Vanderhoof then fell to Lacey A’s 5-0 on Monday.
Both the Rippers and River Kings are 1-2.
The tournament runs until Saturday.

Toronto Blue Jays 4 LA Angels 2
The (55-64) Jays continue a 6-game road trip tonight (Tuesday 6:30) against the (52-67) Angels.
The Seattle Mariners start a 9-game road trip tonight (3:40) at Detroit against the (56-63) Tigers.
The (63-56) Mariners are 2nd in the A.L. West, just half-a-game behind the (63-55) Houston Astros.

CFL:
After failing to land a job with an NFL team, quarterback Nathan Rourke is returning to the B.C. Lions.
The 26-year-old Rourke, from Victoria, completed 78 per cent of his passes over 10 regular-season games with the Lions in 2022.
That was the year he was named the league’s top Canadian.

The (5-4) Lions will try to end a 3-game losing skid when they host the (3-6) Winnipeg Blue Bombers Sunday at 4 PM.
Week 11 of the CFL season begins Thursday night (6:00) with (5-2-1) Ottawa at (4-5) Calgary.

BCFC:
The Prince George Kodiaks of the BC Football Conference visit the first place (4-0) Okanagan Sun Saturday night at 7:00 in Kelowna before hosting the last place (0-3) Kamloops Broncos Saturday, August 24th at 6 PM.
The (1-3) Kodiaks, who are coming off a 48-28 loss to the Valley Huskers, are allowing on average 42 points per game while scoring 25 over their first four games.
