Rural residents who live outside of Prince George will have more options for recycling come the fall.
According to the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George, the Recycle BC program will launch at the Mackenzie and Valemount Landfill and Regional Transfer Stations along with the PG’s Quinn Street Depot starting September 16th.
Once operational, the RDFFG will then work with Recycle BC to add more locations in 2025.
As of September 1st, the Mackenzie and Quinn Street sites will see increased hours:
Mackenzie Select Waste Landfill and Regional Transfer Station:
- Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm
- Saturday and Sunday from 9 am to 3 pm
Quinn Street Recycling Depot:
- Monday to Sunday from 9 am to 5 pm
Both facilities are open from 9 am to 4 pm on Easter Monday, Victoria Day, Labour Day and Thanksgiving, and closed on all other statutory holidays.
In May, the contractor who previously provided the recycling drop-off bins and hauling services at transfer stations called it quits, which led to a temporary service disruption.

- Pineview Recreation Centre for $9,500 for operating expenses and programs
- Dunster Community Forest Society for $10,000 for fire suppression equipment
- Wishbone Theatre Productions for $1,200 for production expenses
