Prince George is rolling out the welcome wagon for international students going to school in the city.

On Friday the City and numerous community partners will be throwing welcoming party in front of city hall to greet some 600 students coming from outside of Canada.

“It’s just an opportunity to welcome them to our community, to embrace them, celebrate that they’re here and let them know about all the great thing Prince George has to offer.” said Recreation Coordinator Robyn McConkey.

She also notes that the city benefits from having international students.

“Bringing international students to Prince George creates diversity in our community, we can celebrate different cultures” McConkey said. “It also lets them see how great Prince George is… and they might stay in our community.”

The welcome party happens this Friday from 3-5pm.
