New Mackenzie daycare set to open in 2025

School District 57 has shared a progress update on a new 62-space childcare centre being built in Mackenzie.

Construction on the centre will start next month at the old Mackenzie Elementary School site, which was torn down last year.

SD57 said it is expected to be completed by next fall.

The daycare will offer spaces for 12 kids under 36 months old, 25 kids 30 months to school age, and 25 school age kids.

Its completion date has been slightly delayed from what was announced last fall. SD57 said this is due to the rising cost of construction and the project needing additional funding, which was granted in June.

The ChildCareBC New Spaces Fund is supporting the project.
