$40,000 worth of wildfire fighting equipment stolen from volunteer hall

The Ferndale Tabor Volunteer Fire Department is looking for a light colored pickup truck that was in the Giscome area early yesterday morning (Wednesday).

According to Bryant Kemble, their Fire Chief, a thief arrived at the hall in a truck at 4:34 am, “cut a lock off a trailer and helped themself to a new chainsaw, one brand new pump, and three older pumps that are used for putting sprinklers on houses in front of wildfires.”

Kemble said that equipment was worth around $40,000.

The fire hall is asking anyone with surveillance footage or information to contact them or the Prince George RCMP.

“We use it to protect homes in a wildfire, this cuts our ability down to do that,” he said. “It is a public safety issue, god forbid a wildfire comes.”
