WHL

Cougars assistant coach Carter Rigby has been suspended for the first three games of the regular season for “violating the WHL Standards of Conduct, specifically pertaining to the use of insensitive language.”

Canada West Soccer

The UNBC Timberwolves’ men’s team kicked off their season with a 4-1 loss to the University of Fraser Valley.

Connor Lewis scored UNBC’s lone goal in the 63rd minute of the game.

The two teams will rematch tomorrow at 1:00.


BC Football Conference

The Prince George Kodiaks host the Kamloops Broncos this evening at 6:00.

The Kodiaks are trying to bounce back from a 70-0 beatdown at the hands of the league leading Okanagan Sun last weekend.

The Kodiaks are 1-4 this season, Kamloops is 0-3 and looking for their first win.

CFL

The BC Lions are in Ottawa today to play the Redblacks at 7:00, trying to snap a 4 game losing streak.

Despite that, the Lions are tied with the Roughriders at the top of the west division with 5-5 records.

Ottawa has a 6-2-1 record.

NFL

It is the final week of the preseason.

There will be 8 games today starting at 10am.

The regular season starts on September 5th with a game between the Ravens and the Chiefs.

MLB

The Blue Jays are looking to win a third straight game against the LA Angels this afternoon.

They beat the Angels 5-4 and 5-3 yesterday and Thursday.

The Jays are 6-4 in their last 10 games and are trying to inch their way back to a .500 record, now 61-68 this season.
