How and when to watch northern BC athletes at the Paralympics Games

(All times are in PST)

The Paris Paralympic Games began today (Wednesday).

Four athletes from, or with ties to northern BC will be competing – Joel Ewert (Prince George) in Wheelchair Rugby, Jennifer McCreesh (Smithers) in Sitting Volleyball, Bo Hedges (Fort St. John, former UNBC student) in Wheelchair Basketball, and Kady Dandeneau (former UNBC Timberwolf) in Wheelchair Basketball.

Each athlete’s team will play three preliminary matches to determine seeding for playoff games.

Ewert’s Wheelchair Rugby team’s preliminary round matches are scheduled for:

  • Thursday, August 29th vs the United States (4:30 am)
  • August 30th vs Germany (8:30 am)
  • August 31st vs Japan (8:30 am)

Playoff games will begin September 1st, the medal matches will be September 2nd. You can find the full schedule here.

McCreesh’s sitting volleyball team will play their three preliminary games on:

  • August 29th vs Slovenia (9:00 am)
  • August 31st vs Brazil (11:00 am)
  • September 2nd vs Rwanda (9:00)

The teams that finish 5th to 8th will play in classification matches on September 4th, the semifinals will be September 5th and the medal matches will be September 7th. You can find the full schedule here.

Hedges’ men’s wheelchair basketball team takes the court:

  • August 30th vs France (9:15 am)
  • August 31st vs Great Britain (3:45 am)
  • September 2nd vs Germany (7:00 am)

Quarterfinal games will be held on September 3rd, semifinal games on September 5th, and the medal matches on September 7th. You can find the full schedule here.

Last but not least, Dandeneau and the Canadian female wheelchair basketball team play on:

  • August 29th vs China (9:15 am)
  • August 31st vs Great Britain (1:30 am)
  • September 1st vs Spain (12:30 pm)

Quarterfinal games will be played September 4th, semifinals will be held September 6th, and the medal matches are September 8th. You can find the full schedule here.
