Giddens to run as Conservative candidate in Prince George-Mackenzie

As expected, Kiel Giddens is the new candidate for the BC Conservatives in Prince George-Mackenzie.

Today (Wednesday) Giddens announced he’s accepted the nomination for the party.

“I believe it’s time for us to come together, to unite under a new free enterprise banner of the Conservative Party,” Giddens said.

“I’m going to do so with the integrity that I have held in this election all along so far, I’m holding my values intact, and I hold my commitment to the people of this riding to be the hardest worker I possibly can to bring a brighter future for the next generation.”

It was nearly a year ago, across the road from Northern Lights Estate Winery where he made today’s announcement , the BC United Party announced Giddens would be their candidate in the coming election.

Last week, BC United Leader Kevin Falcon announced the party was suspending their campaign, and put his support behind John Rustad’s Conservatives.

“What gives me confidence that we can defeat the NDP is that I’ve heard from people in this riding and across the province that they’re hungry for change,” Giddens said.

“People want a new government, we’re not seeing the outcomes that people deserve, whether that’s in health care, whether that’s in public safety, whether that’s in affordability. I’ve heard this from now thousands of people that I’ve spoken to in our riding and they want change, and I want to be part of a movement that is bringing change to this province.”

Giddens replaces School District 57 Trustee Rachael Weber as the party’s candidate.

The provincial election will take place on October 19th.
