Regional District voting to approve $318 million contribution to hospital expansion

The Fraser-Fort George Regional Hospital District Board of Directors will soon vote on providing $318,712,000 in funding for the construction of the new UHNBC patient care tower.

This would account for 21.63% of the total estimated cost of the project, which the regional district said is well below the typical 40% that regional hospital districts normally contribute.

The $318 million would be broken down into three parts:

  • $5,000,000 for the business plan
  • $41,288,000 for the early works agreement
  • $318,712,000 for the patient care tower contribution.

Construction is expected to begin in 2026 and end in 2031.
