A director with the Regional District of Fraser Fort-George has withdrawn his name to become President of the Union of BC Municipalities.
In a release, Art Kaehn is stepping aside due to health reasons.
“This has been a challenging time for Director Kaehn, and he has made a tough decision with the best interests of UBCM’s membership in mind,” said Councillor Laurey- Anne Roodenburg, the Nominating Committee Chair and a past president of UBCM. “On behalf of the membership, we wish him all the best and a speedy recovery.”
At this time, there are no further nominees for the president’s role. The Nominating Committee has put additional steps in place to manage future nominations.
The UBCM convention kicks off Monday in Vancouver.
