The City of Prince George put on a gathering this afternoon (Wednesday), recognizing and thanking those in our city who volunteer for the various organizations, events, and causes in our City.
“Without their help, we wouldn’t get half the things done,” said Mayor Simon Yu.
“We talk about all the sports venues, all the social service venues, all the venues that we set up throughout the city to help the needy, Meals on Wheels, we just want to use this opportunity, on behalf of each one of us, to thank them and to encourage them, and to make sure they know that we, as a city, really appreciate what they do.”
Yu added the city is always in need of volunteers.
“The more volunteers, the more vibrant the city will be, and more things get done, and then people feel more inclusive, so I encourage more people to volunteer.”
During today’s event, Prince George City Council handed out hot dogs and refreshments, while various organizations around the city set up booths to give more information on their volunteer opportunities.
