RCMP and Smithers BC Highway Patrol were called to a collision that claimed a life yesterday (Sunday) on Highway 16 between Smithers and Telkwa.
Smithers Fire and the BC Ambulance Service also attended the scene west of Raymond Road.
According to police, a pickup truck and an SUV were traveling at highway speeds in opposite directions when they collided head on.
The SUV driver was pronounced dead on scene, with the passenger and pickup driver transported to hospital with serious injuries.
“We are continuing our investigation into this tragic event and request anyone with dash cam footage or anyone who witnessed the crash that have not come forward, to contact us at the Smithers RCMP Detachment at 250-847-3233,” said Cpl. Kevin Weeres.
