Recycling services re-launch at three RDFFG transfer stations

The Recycle BC program is launching in three locations across the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George.

Starting today (Monday), the program is launching at the Quinn Street Regional Recycling Depot in Prince George, the Mackenzie Select Waste Landfill and Regional Transfer Station, and the Valemount Regional Transfer Station.

“We are excited to start offering residential recycling services with Recycle BC at these three principal depot locations,” said General Manager of Environmental Services Laura Zapotichny.

“These depots can accept more categories of materials for recycling than before and will also take advantage of Recycle BC’s stewardship network.”

Categories of materials that will be accepted includes:

  • printed paper, paper packaging, corrugated cardboard, cartons and paper cups
  • plastic containers, metal containers
  • white and colour foam packaging
  • plastic bags and overwrap, other flexible plastic packaging
  • glass bottles and jars

More information on what can be accepted can be found on the Recycle BC website.

As a result of the program launch, the Quinn Street Recycling Depot’s layout has changed, and residents are asked to follow new signage and and directions from staff.

The Regional District says they’re expecting a high volume of traffic at the site, as residents are eager to utilize the site’s expanded services.

The Regional District is continuing to work with Recycle BC to establish more principal depots across the region in 2025.

In April, the Regional District announced changes would be coming to recycling collection in the district.

According to the Regional District, the contractor who provided the paper and packaging recycling drop off bins and hauling services were unable to continue the service after May 31st.
