Perry Park off-leash area expected to be complete in November

Prince George City Council received a report on off-leash dog parks in the City at Wednesday’s meeting.

“Two dog parks were in the queue, Southridge was the first one, complete and open to the public,” said Director of Civic Operations Blake McIntosh.

“The second option is repurposing some available space at Perry Park.”

McIntosh noted the park is expected to be completed in November within the 2024 funding available for the program.

Councillor Brian Skakun noted the area at the end of Domano Boulevard could be an option as well.

“There’s no extra cost to the City, so I’m hoping going forward, that would serve more of the lower College Heights, where we were originally going to have the dog park,” Skakun said.

“I think it’s a great area, most people don’t have their pets on leashes anyways as soon as they get past the gate.”

McIntosh also noted City Staff could undergo a review of parks without playgrounds that could potentially be used for off-leash area.
