Prince George Golf and Curling Club raises $50,000 through fund

The Prince George Golf and Curling Club has raised $50,000 through their Findlay Young Legacy Fund.

The fund, created by the Young family, started roughly four years ago in memory of their father, Findlay who began playing at the club at around 1958 and had a passion for the junior programs.

Board Member, Caleb Wilson explains where the money will be going.

“We’ve had a couple years to start really ironing out what we were going to do.”

“what the money is going to be going into is the Findlay Young Junior Golf Academy, which will essentially be a program for golfers to try to get to a higher level, implementing some coaching and different things like that for new golfers.”

Wilson says the long-term goal is to provide opportunities for elite golfers to compete in Golf BC and Canada tournaments.

He noted it’s important to allow young athletes to pursue golf at a high level and to make sure Findlay’s legacy lives on.
