Former NHLer a keynote speaker for upcoming Mental Health and Addictions Symposium

Eight speakers have been lined up for this year’s Mental Health and Addictions Symposium in Prince George.

The event, co-hosted by the North Central Local Government Association (NCLGA), Lheidli T’enneh First Nation, the City of Prince George and the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George, will have various presentations with speakers covering the topic.

The speakers confirmed for the event include:

  • Keynote Speaker: Corey Hirsch, former NHL goaltender, coach and an Olympic Games silver medalist
  • Dr. Barbara Kane, Head of the Psychiatry Department, University Hospital of Northern
    British Columbia
  • Janine Stevenson and Andrea Durban, Community Action Initiative
  • Art Reynolds, BC Construction Safety Alliance and Ian Robb, Chair of the Alberta Building
    Trades
  • Dr. Paul Farnan, Clinical Associate Professor, University of British Columbia
  • Mike Skrypnek and Andrea Paquette, Stigma-Free Mental Health Society
  • Acasia Preston, Raelene Hodgson, and Colleen Purcka, Foundry BC
  • Laura Honey and Julia Hintermeister, Saplings Mental Health, and many more.

It said the signing of the Mental Health and Addiction Accord will be a key outcome of the event, as signatories commit to promoting mental well-being and combat substance misuse.

The event will be on November 13th and 14th, at the Prince George Conference and Civic Centre.
