Rising river forces city to close Paddlewheel Park

As levels of the Fraser river continue to rise, officials are warning you to keep your distance.

Dave Campbell, Head of BC’s River Forecast Centre says the river is flowing well above normal for this time of year.

By “full”, Campbell says the Fraser is sitting at just under nine meters, which is half a meter away from flood level.

He expects the river to stay high for at least three more weeks until run-off from the snow pack has run its course.

The city of Prince George has closed access to Paddlewheel Park as a precaution.
