New toolkit introduced to help community recreational research

Local governments and organizations will be able to better enhance community recreation.

The Outdoor Recreation Council of BC (ORCBC) is calling its new resource Conducting and Using Visitor and Recreational User Research, and was made in collaboration with the Harbinger Consultancy.

The toolkit gathers and applies accurate, and relevant data on recreational users and visitors.

ORCBC said communities can better understand recreational users’ needs, behaviours and preferences to address challenges and plan more effectively.

The toolkit is geared towards small and medium-sized outdoor recreation organizations, First Nations and local governments, that may lack resources for in-depth research.

Principal of the Harbinger Consultancy, Michele Archie said communities and groups spending $10,000 to $30,000 may not be possible, with their aim being to help them build their own capacity and insights, and put them to work.

More information about the toolkit can be found on the Outdoor Recreation Council of BC’s website here.
